Installation

Requirements

In order to start the Bibster system you will need a Java platform on your system. The application was compiled and tested using a JDK 1.4.
The newest Java environments are available at: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html

Install the system

After downloading the JAR file please start the installation by executing

In the first step (figure 1) please select a destination folder for the Bibster application (e.g. "C:\Program Files\Bibster application"). Again, you can continue the installation by pressing the "Next" button.

The program starts to copy all relevant files to your destination folder (figure 2). When all files are copied, you successfully installed Bibster on your computer.

Starting bibster

Now please start the Bibster application by executing the bibster.bat file in your installation directory:

Configuration

The first time you start Bibster, you have to configure the network settings. A "JXTA configurator" will appear (figure 3).

Just enter a peer id (e.g. your name or alias) and press the "Okay" button. If your firewall blocks TCP connections (Port 9701) please select "My firewall blocks outgoing TCP connections".

Your Bibster client is now configured. Please click on the "OK" button.
