Explanation of selected functions

Importing BibTeX files

After starting the client you can import your BibTeX files. This process is done by executing the "File->Import" (figure 7) function and by selecting your local BibTeX files.
After that, you are able to query your local peer (e.g. by simply pressing the "Search Now" button).

Scope

You can select the scope of your query:

  • Local Peer: Restrict your query to your local peer.
  • Automatic Search: Intelligent selection of peers.
  • Selected Peers: Select a set of peers (figure 8).

Search details

You can restrict your query to special attributes (e.g. search for publications of the year 2003).

Save items to your local repository

You can save items to your local node repository by simply selecting the item and pressing the "Save" button.

Adjusting the columns in the result view

By pressing the right mouse button inside the result view panel you can adjust your personal view (figure 9).

Edit and modify your items

The functions in the "Edit" menu allow you to modify and create new bibliographic metadata. Figure 10 shows Bibster's "Edit editor".

Reclassify items

You simply can classify your items to the ACM topic hierarchy by a drag and drop function. Simply drag a special topic and drop it to an item in the result view.
